The
Foundation for Christian Studies (FCS) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the study, teaching, and practice of
Christianity in a way that inspires all people, regardless of
theological differences, to come together in support of
essential Christian values and compassionate service to God’s
children across the globe. The FCS accomplishes this by
providing rich scriptural course study and spiritual
commentary, interactive web forums for thoughtful discussion,
an online store offering inspirational Christian media, and a
charitable giving program that emphasizes individual and
community self-reliance.
Jesus Christ told those who believed in him that if they
continued in his word they would be his disciples, know the
truth, and be set free from the spiritual bondage of Satan
(John 8:32). The Savior said that if a man comes unto him and
hears and does what He says, then his life is like a house on
a foundation of rock that will not be washed away by the
buffetings of the world (Luke 6:47-48).
Eric Shuster, the founder of FCS, and his advisors on the FCS
board are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints. Therefore the doctrines defined on this web site are
consistent with and in some cases unique to that Christian
denomination. However, the web site is specifically designed
for people interested in learning more about Christianity in
general, regardless of their religious affiliation. The site
is a place where you can put forward your beliefs, hear those
of others, and discuss and even debate the differences without
fear of ridicule or humiliation. The FCS website is definitely
not a place where Christians of one denomination or way of
believing are encouraged to denounce Christians of any other
denomination or way of believing. On the contrary, the FCS
insists on the following ethic: Where there are differences,
all discussion and debate shall be conducted in the spirit of
agreeing to disagree: Condemnation and denouncement are not
welcome. People who have a need to define their beliefs
through denigration of the beliefs of others should go
elsewhere. There are plenty of other web sites where this form
of discourse is practiced with enthusiasm. We do not condemn
it. It is simply not practiced here.
The gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to save and to
protect the children of God. God is the great I am, not the
great I was, and his word is alive today and available for all
of us to feast upon and apply in our everyday lives. The
Foundation for Christian Studies is a spiritual banquet where
all are invited to come and eat freely. Should the Christian
beliefs expressed by the FCS not align with your own, we
welcome a respectful discourse with you—not as a means of
evangelism, but as a means of finding common ground in the
Body of Christ where we can all be different parts of the same
unified Christian purpose.

The Foundation’s Mission
The mission of the Foundation for
Christian Studies (FCS) is to “teach all nations” the fullness
of the gospel of Jesus Christ; to encourage ardent study of
the scriptures “for inspiration and instruction in
righteousness”; and to exemplify the ministry of our Savior
and Redeemer by fulfilling his commission to “love one
another”—the combined scriptures of Matt. 28:19, 2 Tim. 3:16,
and John 13:34 respectively.
The FCS is a foundation in the
gospel of Jesus Christ in three ways:
-
A
foundation of scripture-based doctrine that provides the core
belief system of Christianity through rich, accessible content
-
A
foundation of spiritual inspiration exchanged among Christians
to invite all to come unto Christ through the use of
interactive web forums
-
A
foundation of charity that exemplifies the ministry of Christ
to serve those who are most in need through the sponsoring of
outstanding self-help oriented charities.
The
Foundation’s Board of Advisors
The FCS is made up of volunteer theological contributors and
advisors who have a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ,
further blessed by a team of dedicated professionals who
render value-added services in the successful operation of the
Foundation. Not a single penny of revenues generated by the
FCS is spent on paying salaries to the Board of Associates or
anyone connected to the FCS. Meet the
FCS Board of Advisors and read the
Founder's Testimony.
The
Foundation’s Charitable Pledge
The FCS is a limited liability corporation (LLC), founded in
the state of Colorado. Being an LLC provides the FCS
flexibility in operations in order to optimize the management
of the foundation towards an efficient and charitable end. The
FCS pledges itself to be a non-profit organization in
promoting and sponsoring carefully selected public charities
and organizations who have demonstrated operational
effectiveness and fiscal excellence. The focus of these
charities is on “self-help,” thus promoting causes that give
people a boost so they can sustainably help themselves.
See the charities page for
more details on the FCS selected charities, the operational
structure of the FCS, and our philosophy of giving.
The Foundation’s Press Room
From time to time the FCS will develop and distribute press
releases for the purposes of creating awareness for the
Foundation’s activities, responding to selected
communications, and to promote worthwhile causes that are
commensurate with the principles of the gospel of Jesus
Christ.
